I have no idea how often I’ll be able to sneak in and post while I’m abroad. Absolutely none. I am assuming that it won’t be that often, but I may be able to write entries or logs in Word and transfer them all at once.

I’m not sure what will be convenient, but once a week I’ll try to sneak in with NEWS.

Thanks to Grandmoom’s front porch, I even have a symbol for it.

I can try to give basic information about what I am knitting, studying, seeing, and otherwise finding.

Hopefully I’ll be able to sneak in a little more often, but you never know.

Operation Sneak.

At the moment, I am making progress on these projects:

This is the first of Val’s MSU socks. It is almost to the heel. Lorna’s Laces dyed this for distribution in the Lansing area, which is where we obtained it.

The Embossed Leaves Socks from Interweave are my latest store knitting socks. The yarn is Interlacements Tiny toes, in 403?? I’ll double check later. It’s 403 or 405.

An unnecessary detail shot because I like the project. ;D

I was afraid that the pooling wasn’t going to shift enough for my taste. I really didn’t want to have to use a different needle size or pattern. I think I’m alright with it. The next time I make this excellent pattern I do plan to use a smaller needle. These are on a two, and I prefer to use nothing larger than a 1.5.

Now I have to confess some…acquisitions. I hate when this happens. The first doesn’t really count, because it is for The Sneak. She wanted a soft, non-itchy dark grey hat. It took some looking, but here is the yarn:

Jo Sharp Georgette. It is 40% alpaca, 40% merino, and 20% silk. I was looking for a merino/cotton or a merino/silk blend, but most greys in blends that contain cotton or silk are rather light. Both fibers tend to take dye pretty lightly. The yarn is actually a little darker than the picture lets on, because of the silk’s shine.

Now, here is when we get to the Illegal Acquisitions.

Who in the name of wool allowed me to get into trouble like this??

On second thought, there is really no reason to ask. Hmmph!!

If she ever posts (before leaving, anyway) she’ll show you that she didn’t make it out cleanly either. I have the bee colourway, and she has the frog colourway. (It’s blue. I would have expected green, but there you have it.)

What we realized after we left is that hers is London coloured and mine is Africa coloured. That made us feel better about our lighter wallets.

I’m at Grandmoom’s, so I should probably go do something useful. Like work on my sewing projects.

P.S…Here is the full confession.

Drat. Earrings too?!? Oh well.

Geez… I really envy the Finlayson/MacMullan bloodline and their amazing color (colour?) sense…
