Ah, knitting.

It’s been a while since I really posted. I am about to enter the dreaded “eighth week”, so I would advise you not to expect too much sense out of me for a while…

Eighth week means doom. Lack of sleep, overwork, and the startling tendency to forget everything important all at once. Only to remember it all at once, and just hope you can create enough extra hours in the day to get through it all.

Without further ado, I shall present to you a high point of my quarter:

Cait and Rob, my “knitting progeny”

I was getting so used to being the only knitter around. Then again, if you give them enough time they always come out of the woodwork. Honest.

I have been teaching mitten and bag lessons. We* knit in the library and in coffee shops. It is very successful.

I have been working on the Equestrian Blazer very slowly, but it is coming together. The sleeves are too short (I was afraid of this), so we’ll have to see about that… I don’t anticipate that progress will speed up, but hopefully next weekend I’ll get to the point of lengthening the sleeves.

Instead, I have been finishing socks:

This is the second sock. I put them aside in early December when I *broke and ebony needle*. I know, I know.

I have also been finishing Moom‘s shawl, which has been finished except for the edging since September.  (Don’t give me that look.  Just don’t.)

Half the edging is done!! Finally!

There is absolutely no excuse for this. I am rolling my eyes at myself and at my bad habits.  I have a yarn stash of embarrassing proportions (for my age and my bank account), and I need to be using it.  I am *only* buying yarn when I’ve finished three or more projects.
So, of course, I distracted myself from my work today by drooling over yarn on the internet. You would think I hadn’t been in a yarn store in months from the way I was staring, glassy-eyed and short of breath at colors.

I want this, and this, and this, and this, and this.

And I *didn’t order anything*. Self control? Yes. I am SO impressed with myself. So much you can’t believe it. Says the girl who is writing a post specifically so she can procrastinate on her homework…

* “We” being any combination of me, Cait, Rob, Kelsey, Lairi, and Georgia. Except Georgia can’t knit yet, and Lairi doesn’t want to. Kelsey crochets, but I’m going to insist on teaching her to knit at the soonest opportunity. (Fortunately she is a willing learner.)
