Slow Weekend

giantflower.jpg

I have the house to myself.

I guess it’s time to throw some wild parties and wreck the house. You know, get trashed with a bunch of strangers from the club and blast obnoxious music until the neighbors call the police…

OOPS darn. My plans are spoiled because I forgot that Moom reads this. I also forgot that I don’t go to the club, so where do I find these “strangers from the club”? I guess I’ll have to settle for my spinning wheel, sewing machine, yarn stash, and a glass of wine.

What a tragedy. Why can’t I have any fun around here?

Go over to the “Flying Sheep”, pretend it’s your club, and the people there are all strangers, and invite them over for a no-parents bash.

Sadly, Flying Sheep closed in March. I’m missing it sorely.

Major bummer that Flying Sheep closed!

    Minor bummer:
I’ve been working on an 8 x 8″ square for Sourh African AIDS orphans, (see http://www.knit-a-square.com). I wanted to try a mitered square, so I cast on double the amount, and did a sl1, K2tog, psso double decrease in the center. I swear the sides were 8″ when I had about 2″ done, although the outside corners were not quite 90 degrees. I started fudging, skipping the decrease on some rows. I ended up with a kite-shaped piece, with every side, including original two, way bigger than 8″. I’ve blocked it to a square, about 10.5 or 11″ on a side. I guess I’ll try felting it, next, and hope it ends up the right size. I’ll have to felt by hand, as our new washer is a front loader.
